This vast barn is an intrical part of our French house in the small village of Oyes in rural Champagne.

The property was originally a working farm belonging to the present mayor of the village Michel Liegeois and his family. The family [Michel and his 2 siblings, Mum and Dad and Grandparents] lived in the ground floor of the old house and they also had had substantial outbuildings...Stables for three horses, a piggery, indoor housing for 'over wintering' the cows and many haylofts and storage areas. The barn was attached to the 'menage' which was used as a carousel for the horses to walk around while they drove a shaft that worked various 'machines' in the larger part of the barn.

Over the last decade we have transformed the main house and the farm buildings into 'human' habitable spaces and with ever continuing projects....

FRENCH BARN was born out of our passion for designing spaces that we enjoy sharing with others: both at our FRENCH HOUSE and through our experience as film designers.
