When we moved to Oyes, Champagne in France from London it was the continuation of a journey that began in 1996 and has its roots firmly planted in the fascination with the charm and aesthetic draw of the French passion for design...its practical, attractive, solid and sturdy but beautifully simple style had wooed a couple from their native New Zealand into the wilds of rural France and all its delights...we share our time between Champagne and London where we enjoy a dose of urban life...
To source our stock for the boutique we scour the brocantes and markets for treasures that catch our eye...the stock varies with our finds of the day...determined by luck, chance and some good management...we offer these items for sale and we hope that you too appreciate the joy, calm and meaning that sharing your home with items of beauty and charm brings...
We have in stock a collection of original French cafe chairs. These chairs work well in pairs in the garden or on the patio. They also make fantastic simple indoor chairs...a nicely aged example in the corner of a bedroom or bathroom is perfect for throwing clothes over, a cushion on or hanging a towel...
These gorgeous old jars came out of a French pharmacy and we have them in many different styles and sizes...some with glass stoppers and lids and some without. They are fantastic for practical display in a kitchen or bathroom...large and versatile they can be filled with all manner of items and look great in sets of three anywhere you fancy.
These wooden boxes, forever useful, can be filled with all manner of family, business or kitchen 'stuff' while retaining an interesting facade...resting on a shelf in the kitchen, office or living room they are brilliant as a practical storage solution.
Boxes vary in weight, age and size and are all finished with shellac to seal the wood and give a nice finish.

We have developed FRENCH BARN as a design service for those who would like creative assistance with their home or business...we offer the opportunity to utilise our skills in designing, sourcing and styling to make the most of your space...albeit a room in your house or a cafe, restaurant or office.
When you work with us you benefit from the experience and over zealous eye for detail we have gained while spending years designing for film. Production Design involves creating environments, often from scratch in a studio but also dressing existing spaces to a design 'brief'...a process that requires careful analysis of the potential offered by a space to create a specified atmosphere and to transform it to make the most of it for those that need to utilise it. We are used to being resourceful, 'thinking outside the box' and working within budget restraints fro the best most striking results.
In our travels we see many interesting pieces and we have the practical vision to be able to utilise these to full effect. Years spent working scouring the streets of London, the markets of France and beyond have given us an appreciation for the value of that special find. We scout for items that are stylish authentic examples of their kind. Some rarer finds can take centre stage while others can be collected to support a particular feel in a space.
Carefully displayed they create an uncluttered sturdy rustic statement, a modern easy authentic look, a stylish original use of space that is easy to live and work in and around. Easy on the eye and gentle in its presence it helps to reflect our way of life in our home in France.
Detail is important to us and you can be rest assured that once we begin a project we will see it through to the finishing stage with the same energy and attention to detail.
